Russell Wilson’s fourth-quarter, fourth-down TD pass decisive vs. 49ers

Pete Carroll is not one to stand on convention, no matter how big the moment is.

So, when Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks faced a 4th-and-7 at the San Francisco 35-yard line, the original idea was for Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka to boot a field goal.

But Carroll called timeout and decided to send his offense back out on the field. It was a good decision, as quarterback Russell Wilson threw a 35-yard laser to receiver Jermaine Kearse for a simply amazing touchdown.

The touchdown gave the Seahawks their first lead of the game at 20-17. Seattle would later add a field goal, and hold on for a 23-17 victory.

One fan wonders how they can take almost a full minute to make their decision to go for it and finally snap the ball and not get a delay of game penalty (without using a timeout)....meanwhile the niners get a delay a game penalty on 3rd and 1 when taking exactly 40 seconds from the end of the last play to snap the ball.

I have to wonder just how the Seahawks feel knowing that the NFL and its officials had to be that blatant in their favor in order to win ?

Keep in mind that Wilson only dared to make that throw because of the "encroachment" flag.

Oh, and it looks like the defender got back before the snap!

I've read numerous comments about SF fans being whiners. I'm starting to see what they mean. Maybe they should change the name to 40whiners?

Awwww...does the wittle boy hurt so bad?

Ask mommy to kiss the boo boo

the San Francisco newspapers have all said the officiating didn't determine the outcome of the game. maybe you'll pull up your big boy pants and grow up.

Are all 49er fans such whiny losers? Starting to look that way.

Kaepernick said the loss was on him. I'm not a CK fan, but compared to the 49er fans I have to say he looks pretty good right now.

Cheer up, it's the closest CK has ever came to winning at Clink.

BTW, you do realize that even in the game SF won in December, they didn't beat the spread? If you took Seattle and the 3pts, you won.

Let me guess, the calls all went against you there too.

Must be tough be a 49er fan when the whole world is plotting against you.

@Thomas15 In almost every game the two teams play against each other, the home team wins. Its not luck, and the teams are pretty even across the board. Grow up, Suck it up, and come back next year. The 9ers played an outstanding game. Don't sully their performance by pretending a loss isn't a loss.

Well SF is the losing team from that matchup and the Seahawks get to play in the SB. That Thomas15 is what counts in the playoffs.

Saying SF is the better team following their loss is a fancy way of saying WAAAAAHHHHH!!! And I'm not even a Seahawks fan.

@Thomas15 , it's called a perfect throw. It was good defense by San Fran. But you can't defend a perfect throw.

What a stupid comment , has SF ever lost a game that wasn't by luck of because of refs?
