Colin Kaepernick and NaVorro Bowman steal Cam Newton’s ‘Superman’ celebration
There was enough hostility in the divisional-round game between the Panthers and 49ers without Colin Kaepernick adding fuel to the fire. But the 49ers’ quarterback did just that by mimicking Cam Newton’s “Superman” touchdown celebration after crossing the goal line in the third quarter.
Kaepernick ran in a TD to put his team up 20-10, then mimicked Newton’s move — pretending to rip open his jersey to reveal a superhero outfit. Kaepernick added his own touch, too, completing the ritual with his own trademark bicep kiss. The Carolina crowd (at least those in attendance that noticed) booed Kaepernick’s antics, though the reaction from the Panthers themselves actually paled in comparison to the non-stop animosity exchanged by the teams throughout the contest.
Kaepernick’s teammate, linebacker NaVorro Bowman, also broke out a variation of the Newton Superman after sacking Carolina’s quarterback a few minutes later. (GIF via SBNation.)
