Report: Richie Incognito will ‘never play another game’ for the Dolphins

Jonathan Martin’s future with the Miami Dolphins remains somewhat up in the air, but Richie Incognito’s days playing for the team appear to be done.

The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero reported that the Dolphins already have decided to cut ties with Incognito.

“He’s done,” a ranking club source said Monday. “There are procedures in place and everyone wants to be fair. The NFL is involved. But from a club perspective he’ll never play another game here.”

With what has transpired in Miami over the past couple days, that news should not come as much of a surprise. Incognito was suspended indefinitely by the team on Sunday night, as the NFL began investigating his involvement in Martin’s sudden departure from the team last week. Incognito allegedly bullied Martin, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter and CBS’ Jason La Canfora revealing voicemails and text messages from Incognito to Martin that contained racial remarks and threats.

The Dolphins reportedly have heard the voicemails in question.

“The Miami Dolphins have suspended Richie Incognito for conduct detrimental to the team,” a statement from the team released Sunday night read. “We believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another and as a result we believe this decision is in the best interest of the organization at this time. As we noted earlier, we reached out to the NFL to conduct an objective and thorough review. We will continue to work with the league on this matter.”

Incognito was suspended for the 2004 college football season while at Nebraska, then transferred to Oregon, though he never actually suited up for the Ducks. Five years later, the Rams released Incognito after an in-game confrontation with then-head coach Steve Spagnuolo.

He then briefly joined the Bills before signing with the Dolphins in 2010. He is in the final season of his three-year contract.

The circumstances surrounding this latest incident and his impending release may make it impossible for the 30-year-old Incognito to latch on with another NFL team. At the very least, he may have to wait until the league’s investigation concludes and any punishments are handed down. Incognito could be facing significant discipline from the NFL if it is proven that he played a major role in Martin’s breakdown.

It depends on their win-loss record who will be returning to the Dolphins . . . coaches and players.

He should be raped, just on general principles.

Demanding $15grand from another person while threatening his life is extortion. Richie belongs in prison. No two ways about it.

dah , there seems to be some meanies in the NFL?   Why can't we all just get along. Maybe we could just play funzy's?   I say let the guys play in high heels and sports Bras.  Then if threats are made we could call it Chris Brown Love games and they could all be forgiven before the next date?

i find 90% or more of these comments to be so far off based i wonder who these people are? clearly not real nfl football fans!! or perhaps this is how naive actual nfl football fans are. either way. all these people calling for richie incognito's head or calling him racist and a thug blah blah blah.. you guys are hilarious! wait till everything comes out and you'll see how wrong you all are. you'll see that there will be waaay more support for incognito than the guy who abandoned the team.

Well if Icognito is gone and you want to keep cleaning up the Dolphins Organization then get rid of Jeff Ireland.  He is the worst GM in all of the NFL.  I believe he is one of the main reasons for the Dolphins failure to reach their goal of the big game.  He is a moron.  The whole organization has been in a downward spiral since he joined the team. Kick the bum out. Or.....better yet....turn Icognito loose on him and run him out!!!!!

Excuse me!! This is getting way out of hand!! We are all getting to thin skin. Martin is a big boy. He should have kept it in house and punched him in the mouth then shake his hand. Footballs a rough game grow up!! Or get out. He should have called Al Sharkden.

Richie won't be playing again, period. You're welcome.

Mr Incognito's actions are no different from the antics of Jim McMahon or Brian Bosworth, other than the fact there was no Twitter or other social media to rebuke a teammate or coach with public derision and racial epithets. Incognito is playing up a reputation because he knows it will score him points in the entertainment industry when his football career is over. I wouldn't look for him at the Academy Awards however. Much of the stuff is flash in the pan violence because asking a man like Incognito, or Bosworth to perform with a stirring of  real personal substance is akin to hoping a bottle of 2-Buck-Chuck will taste like Rothschild.   It's a shame there always has to be a victim, especially when it's a gifted athlete who follows a different moral code. You can almost reduce the world down to 2 types of people; some are "givers" and others are "takers.' Incognito knows he's a "taker."  But that is the "Daim Bramaged" world of the NFL.

incognito is a punk but a pro bowl offensive lineman. james martin has potential to be a good o line player but it's to be determined. what he heard from incognito is NOTHING compared to what he hears from opposing defenders. he's soft and i'd rather my o line be mean and nasty.

Incognito should sue the Dolphins and the NFL under the 14th Amendment for not according him equal protection under the law.

For if Incognito had dark skin and/or had he been of the same persuasion as Perez Hilton or had been a rap artist his racial, gender and gay slurs would not raise an eyebrow and be considered SSDD.

It is time to put an end to the double-standard not just in the NFL but everywhere. If it is wrong for one human being to use gender, racial and sexually insensitive epithets that are verboten then those terms should be verboten universally across the board.

It would be good to review the "Stanford County Prison Experiment," in which groups of students were randomly selected to be either guards or prisoners.  It didn't take long for the "guards" to begin abusing the "prisoners" to a point where they had to shut down the experiment.  Hazing has been a right of passage in the NFL, and apparently Martin never made the passage.

I've had some pretty terrible, tragic days in my life.  When I'm out and about and somebody does something that might push my buttons, I just think to myself that maybe this is that day for them.  Maybe they just lost a child, maybe they just got some dreaded news, maybe they were just diagnosed with cancer.  We just don't know.  There could be a lot more going on in Martin's life than just what he experienced in the locker room or cafeteria.

Have you ever lost a child of your own?  Have you ever had to wake up day after day after day and look at an empty crib, where once there was life so vibrant and innocent?  I've been there.  And if somebody had made a "joke" during that time about killing my family?!?!?!?

Everybody needs to stop.  You don't know what's going on here.  There's a million layers to both Incognito and Martin about which we just don't know.

What we do know is that people don't get away with saying the "n-word."  A person can't even say it in any context, much less actually call somebody that.  I can't imagine somebody not having sympathy for Martin in this case, even if you want to give Incognito a pass (and it is a shame to consider the number of people doing that).

Jonathan Martin is more than welcome to come play for the Patriots where a winning culture and no nonsense approach is the norm.  Its no wonder teams like New England keep winning even at about a 70% health rate in this division when you got 3 ring circuses going on down in Miami.  Miami seems more concerned with their trip to Vegas and harassing their own players than winning football games which demonstrates a clear lack of leadership.  Enjoy another January of sitting home watching football.

Football is for gladiators and Martin is too soft. Do we really want to look under the hood? How many players have hit their girlfriends or have committed real crimes and we are worried about poor Johnathon. I would not want to line up next to this pansy.

@quefabe Yeah I bet he plans to dedicate himself to your message board crusade to whine about a made up racial conflict that you think is real because you're dumb. I really bet that's the first thing on his mind, he's worried about the 14th Amendment and taking your legal advice. Thanks.

He will apologize and play again only if he helps a team win and they will all laugh in the locker room at how soft Martin is! We had a player in a strip club with body guards put a man in a wheelchair and your worried about bullying in football, Get real!

Are you kidding me! One of your own is in jail awaiting trial for murder and you talk of integrity. Your coach cheated to win a Superbowl not to mention that Brady is about washed up and has disappointed in the past few playoffs. Get off your high horse because you are no better than the rest and it finally caught up taking chances on loser character guys.

@MMoney0021 Wow, every year Pat fans prove they are by far the most deluded fans that have ever existed.  You are some kind of unbelievable fool when you make a statement like you did completely trying to ignore the reality your team is the ONLY team to ever have had a serial killer on it.  Miami has a guy who is a piece of crap but no where near the level of crap Hernandez is.  Pats WIN the most pathetic disgusting vile organization ever for who they had on their roster.  Yeah let's pretend the difference is all the crap you say and not the difference between having Tom Brady and Ryan Tannehill.

And Pat fans are stunned everyone thinks they are a joke and no one has any respect for them.

@trinnyboi @jackdeeleenah...but 30+ year old O.T.s coming off of a yearlong (or possibly longer...) suspension won't get so much as a look-see...the issue will be: why put up with the possible headache caused by a aging nutcase who has not left any post-high school football team (save 1, the Bills...after a waiver claim and playing only 3 games...then free agency...) on his own terms!! that's 2 Div 1-A and 2 of 3 NFL teams...not a good track record...and to say "the truth will come out and you will blah blah blah....and Incognito will be vindicated...." the dude is done in the NFL unless he takes intensive anger management classes/therapy sessions and that may not be enough...he may play in the CFL or Arena...doubt he'll ever step on an NFL field as a player again...

so...as jackdeelee once said when referring to certain former professional football player: "Richie won't be playing again, period. You're welcome."

@lionfan2591 Where is the proof of the so called cheating to win a SB?  This team has won the most games in the league post spygate, so rather than cherry pick a sample size of 2 lost superbowl games to try and make a ridiculous point, try using a large sample size, like 90+ games played.  Brady sure looked washed up a week ago vs Pitt as it was only his second game all season with a healthy offense.  What is the Lions excuse for not winning a SB post spygate?

The Aaron Hernandez case has nothing to do with locker room culture.  Sorry but the Patriots are not responsible for what a player does out of their locker room off their watch.  Your comparing apples and oranges here.  For every 1 bad character player they have signed, they have about 10 that are good players and leaders on and off the field.

Nice try bud.

MMoney0021
MMoney0021

@randomdeletion @MMoney0021The more I read this post the more I cant help but continue to pick it apart.

"Pats WIN the most pathetic disgusting vile organization ever for who they had on their roster".

 - As if Bill Belichick just decided to employ a murderer (Carolina Panthers never did that).  You think him being friends with Urban Meyer had anything to do with his decision to draft Hernandez and do what 32 other teams do?  Assess the risk associated with any player they draft? New England drafted 3 Florida Gators that year, so if this guy was that much of a red flag, shame on Urban Meyer for not disclosing it.  What Aaron Hernandez did reflects bad on Aaron Hernandez not the New England Patriots.  What Incognito did reflects bad on Incognito and the Dolphins players who allowed this to happen.  Apples and Oranges.  But because you can predict murder and sociopaths, maybe the Patriots should hire you as their consultant.

MMoney0021
MMoney0021

@randomdeletion @MMoney0021 Are we talking about Football here?  You must be some kind of rocket scientist or have a magical crystal ball in your house that can predict murder because of a 19 year old kid smoking pot and hanging with a rough crowd (try like 50% of the NCAA fits that perception).

Again, try reading the post.  The Patriots were responsible for Aaron Hernandez on the football field and on their watch.  Aaron Hernandez is responsible for Aaron Hernandez 24/7.  No organization can baby sit grown men outside of their facility.

Again, the culture inside the Patriots locker room is second to non.  They have a coach who has a no nonsense approach which is the EXACT reason they can afford to take on some players with high character issues.

Again, let the Dolphins worry about hazing their own players and extorting them basically while racially harrassing one of their own INSIDE THEIR LOCKER ROOM.

You are one of my favorites on these boards and I knew you would have a response because you are ANTI NE all the time.  But thats cool.

@quefabe yah. cuz i have a different view than you i'm part of the problem. you have the solution? if you think you will stamp out other races using what you call slurs towards each other? either you're naive or dumb. i'm friends with a bunch of asians and natives. they use words towards each other than i wouldn't dare use. wisen up stupid. leave other races alone and quit worrying about if they would've said it then nothing would've happened. hello? just mind your own damn business and don't worry about what THEY do.

@jackdeelee @trinnyboi @BenitaGabriel i'm interested to find out why some of you are so ready to proclaim that an nfl pro bowl offensive tackle is done. especially for being an a hole? really? don't you guys know that being an a hole is a celebrated trait in the nfl. especially in his position? please explain to me why you think he's done.

MMoney0021
MMoney0021

@lionfan2591 I don't bother to get into spygate, this team has wont he most games post "spygate", and when HOF coaches go on record and say this was an NFL norm, then I tend to view this as an overblown media driven argument, that people like "Lionsfan2591" use as a crutch when the Pats beat their team.  Its the last leg they can stand on.

MMoney0021
MMoney0021

@LifesShort99 @MMoney0021 Again, your idea of winning culture must be a whole lot different than mine.  This team has missed the playoffs all of 2 times in the last decade.  Has played in 5 SuperBowls and 7 AFC Championship games.  Take a hike bud.

MMoney0021
MMoney0021

@LifesShort99  You Pats haters are even funnier......what do you call a team who has won the most games in the league since 2003, which would be 10 years of data??  That would be a "winning" culture smart guy.

LifesShort99
LifesShort99

@MMoney0021 @randomdeletion   You Patriot fans are so funny.  Haven't won a super bowl in almost 10 years.  So you used the term "winning culture".  LOL!   We're not champions, but we have a "winning culture".   Too funny.

MMoney0021
MMoney0021

@randomdeletion Teams like the Dolphins cannot beat New England even at their most vulnerable state because of a clear lack of leadership.  Plain and simple.  There is no Tom Brady or VInce Wilfolk in that locker room.
