NFL unveils new Pro Bowl uniforms

The Pro Bowl is getting new uniforms. Gone are the traditional red and blue, replaced by “vibrant orange” and “volt” in a futuristic look similar to the one that’s become popular in college football.

This is just the latest effort for the NFL in its quest to generate interest in its annual All-Star Game. This summer the league announced that it would scrap its traditional conference setup in favor of a fantasy-style draft. Other modifications include: no kickoffs, a 35-/25-second play clock and the addition of two-minute warnings in the first and third quarter.

Last year’s Pro Bowl drew a 7.7 rating, best among All-Star Games in pro sports. But it generally draws lower ratings than regular-season games.

Will the addition of a draft and new uniforms be the jolt the Pro Bowl is looking for?

Hey look honey; there are guys playing football in all gray uniforms!   This amazing fashion statement has really generated my interest to watch the game.

A sure sign that Goodell is right on the verge of announcing the NFL's First Openly Gay Player.

The game will still suck.  But hey, we've got snazzy new uniforms.

I don't get it...the AFC has always been associated with Red and NFC with Blue...so I guess they're changing the logos to tangerine and neon, also?

Hey Nike! The Power Rangers called, they want their uniforms back!

straight ugly, now I have reason to despise the game even more. Nike showing home state bias with using Oregon State and Oregon school colors.

I mean, I used to think this game was a joke, where a bunch of guys gave a halfhearted effort at best in a meaningless game that contained no entertainment value whatsoever. But now, those uniforms!!!!!

As can be seen by the photos, neither the Ravens nor the 49ers are going to the superbowl.

They still play the Pro Bowl?

Grey is the new neon orange in Nike-town, apparently!

This game is nothing but the players taking their families on a sweet vacation..

It could be worse, I guess. They could revert to those hellish retro uniforms the Steelers and Packers wear once a year. Arghhhh!

"The new uniforms are engineered to be lightweight and breathable for the heat of Hawaii"...hah okay SI...try and present this as improvement in the engineering of jerseys rather than an added recruiting asset for U of Oregon...Nike must have a very very lucrative deal with y'all..smh

Looks like Oregon vs Oregon State with pro helmets

Cool uni's, but does anyone watch the Pro Bowl?

"Vibrant" unis! All right! NOW the Pro Bowl becomes a real football game!

make it AFC vs NFC and the winning team gets home field in the superbowl. OMG we have relevance.

Now move it AFTER the Superbowl and you get all your players available and the game means next year if your team is in super bowl you have homefield advantages maybe you try a bit harder.

I might be prodded to watch if the Pro bowl game actually featured the best players of the year. And since the players of the two best teams (or at least two of the very best teams)  are never there because they are busy preparing for the Superbowl.....

Until they have topless cheerleaders the Pro Bowl won't be watched by me.

Can we stop with all the uniform changes just for the sake of change. I blame U of Oregon for this trend...

Each florescent uniform comes with a can of aqua net and some leg warmers, all straight from the 80's!  Get yours while supplies last

Make the game mean something and I'll watch...

This reminds me of the megabrewers who spend more time touting the can or bottle their weasel pee comes in than the beer. The Pro Bowl is a pointless game. I can't imagine why any good player would risk injury in this idiotic contest.

Still not great, but a lot better than the orange push pop of the last however many years.

Nobody watches the Pro Bowl, NOBODY!!! For good reason, and these ridiculous uni's are one of them!!!

I know the NFL swears that the ratings are great for the pro-bowl. Yet I know of no one that watches it. Weird, eh?

No one cares - and no one will watch it either.

Maybe this is an early April Fool's prank? That's all that can explain this.

That will help the game be more exciting, not........

Glad they have numbers. So I can distinguish them from garbage collector uniforms

Catering to the lil flamer/ghey z fans. Pathetic.

These have to be the lamest, ugliest uniform designs to come out in years.  I'd much rather let them continue to wear their '70's "Evil Knievel" looking uni's they currently wear.  NIKE needs to just move on and quit trying to make themselves relevant with these college & pro outfits.  They're pathetic.....

I just died my high school football gloves in some 80's neon paint I had lying around and sold the idea to the NFL. You can too!

Nothing 'vibrant' about dull light gray and dull dark gray. Nike looks like a bunch of Under Armour wannabees with these uniforms. And that's not a compliment.

while the 180 - 240 lb players may look good in those tight pants... I just can't see the 350lb OLman in that outfit.   I hope they stretch....

I'm not watching the Pro Bowl again until they move it back after the Super Bowl.  I'm really not in the mood for exhibition NFL until the last game is played.

@PWINGS Steeler fan here in full agreement with you.  I hate those Bumble Bee unis!  By far the worst throwbacks in all of sports.

The worst part is, they don't even go back to an era where the team was any good.

@riley8  I was on the sideline a few years ago at the Pro Bowl, standing next to the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader (every team gets to brings one.) She was loving it--incredible attention. Until there was a ruckus in the stands--a porno actress flashed the crowd and the place went nuts. I looked at the Cowboys cheerleader, now utterly ignored, who watched blankly with an expression that said "At this moment, I don't matter." It was awesome.

@UkwhoDat Oh, you shouldn't have said that! If Phil hears about that, he'll recycle some of those "hangover from hell" uniforms that Oregon wears and sell them to the NFL. It's a little like the Arnold Schwarzegger line from Running Man when he's wearing a Hawaiian shirt: "Don't worry. If you throw up on my shirt, no one will notice."

@Enough is Enough  It's photoshop using a stock digital image of the same "model" shot back and front. The click of a mouse would make "him" white, if that's what you prefer - imbecile.

Iowa

@Enough is Enough Fair question. How often do you see white players used as models for these uniforms anymore.
