Matt Schaub sets record with a pick-six in fourth straight game

Matt Schaub did not waste much time Sunday night getting his name in the NFL record books … though, he probably would prefer he not to be.

On the third play of Houston’s game in San Francisco and Schaub’s first pass, the 49ers’ Tramaine Brock returned an interception for a touchdown. The turnover marked the fourth straight game in which Schaub had fired a pick-six, setting a new NFL record. Dating to last season, opposing teams have scored off a Schaub INT if five of the Texans’ last seven games. (GIF below via Bleacher Report.)

Brock joined the Titans’ Alterraun Verner, the Ravens’ Daryl Smith and the Seahawks’ Richard Sherman in victimizing Schaub this season. The pick-sixes by Smith and Sherman each came in a Houston loss.

Following last week’s game, in which the Texans blew a 17-point fourth quarter lead and lost to Seattle, one Houston fan was caught on tape burning a Schaub jersey in the stadium parking lot. The heat on Schaub  continues to ratchet up, too, seemingly with each passing week. The Texans’ 2-2 start — not to mention the 4-1 and 3-2 records of Indianapolis and Tennessee, respectively — have left many folks in that fan base wondering aloud if a QB change might be in order.

The options behind Schaub are rather unappealing, though. T.J. Yates, who quarterbacked a Houston playoff win over Cincinnati, is Schaub’s backup. He has not started a game since the 2011 playoffs and has yet to throw a pass this year. Behind him is third-string rookie Case Keenum.

For better or worse, the Texans are locked in with Schaub for the immediate future. Lately, there has been more failure than success.

Case Keenum isn't a rookie. GOD, it's like everyone who post anything on the internet  doesn't even know football. Yates isnt the answer? at least he isn't the problem. Keenum isn't ready? what makes any other "rookie" ready? Dude was a 6th year senior man. Everyone needs to go watch some film and do their homework before saying someone can't play before he even has an opportunity to prove himself.

And Hawk fans thought his pick six meant he was great.  LOL...  uh, no, the idiot qb for the Texans serves them up to just about anyone.  Heck the Niners should have had two if the same guy did not juggle the second one and just picked it cleanly.  Even a defensive lineman got a pick.  This qb is a joke.

You can not blame Schaub at this point.  The blame is squarely on Bob McNair, the Texans owner.

If he can't fire Kubiak, then it is his fault.  Houston and Texans fans deserve better.

Schaub has to go. He's lost confidence and now it looks like the team is losing confidence in him. Last night's game was over with the Pick 6. Texans have to find out if they've got something good on the bench now or if they need to draft a new QB. And Josh Freeman is NOT the answer.

Even Romo can't top that.

Josh Freeman is looking for work.

By his pick six, obviously I mean Sherman.  Oh and Hawk fans also thought it was due to great coaching.  Again... umm... no.  It is painfully obvious EVERY coach is on to how to sucker Schaub into screwing up.
