INDIANAPOLIS — Patriots left tackle Matt Light, who missed Media Day because he was suffering from an illness, attended Wednesday’s press session and said that he planned to practice with the team.

“I feel better,” Light said, which has to be good news for New England and especially for Tom Brady, who played without his usual blindside protection just once this season — a 27-24 win over Miami in Week 16.

“Matt’s one of our leaders on the O-line; he’s been here the longest,” center Dan Connolly said. “We try to look to him for answers on how we should act, how we should play, things like that.”

Backup right tackle Sebastian Vollmer also missed Media Day because he was under the weather — much to the chagrin of a large contingent of German reporters in Indianapolis, who are tracking the every move of Vollmer, a Dusseldorf native.

He, too, met with the media Wednesday and said he’d be ready to go come Super Bowl Sunday.

Vollmer started five games this season but has been more of a depth presence for the Patriots, with Light and Nate Solder starting at the tackle spots. In the Patriots’ early game against the Giants this season, they utilized a three-tackle set, with Solder entering the game as an eligible receiver/extra tight end in some sets.

That game, a 24-20 Patriots loss, was the first of four straight starts for Vollmer in the middle of the season.
